Program Topic: Police Attack on Standing Rock Water Protectors on Nov 20th

Key Discussion Points:
1) Today we hear more information about the police attack on Standing Rock Water Protectors on November 20th.
2) Standing Rock Sioux’s resistance to the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL), which is slated to carry Bakken shale oil through sacred grounds and underneath the Missouri River, a drinking water source for millions.
3) A number of Wabananki tribal members and other Mainers have been or currently are at Standing Rock. Tomorrow another delegation will travel our with winter supplies and people for the encampment.

WERU Special: Giving Tuesday (2 segments) 11/29/16

“Giving to Your Community”, WERU’s alternative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday and our way of participating in Giving Tuesday, which is a national day all about supporting community organizations by donating and volunteering.

WERU celebrated the day with a special live hour at 10am and then another at 4pm on the “Giving Voice to Your Community” theme. Local and state-wide nonprofit organizations of all kinds were invited to call in and share a little bit about their organizations and the ways that community members can support them.
